Owner and Physical Therapist
Raj’s physical therapy career began in 1992 after graduating from SRIPMS College in India. He spent 3 years practicing there before moving to Kuwait and joining the Ministry of Health Hospitals system. In 1996, he came to the United States and practiced in various hospitals and clinics before opening his own practice in 2008. AquatiCare Physical Therapy allowed Raj to focus on superior patient care and treat patients with fewer visits and better results. In 2011, he opened Empower Physical Therapy and Fitness – an innovative concept integrating Physical Therapy and Fitness in one facility.
Raj is devoted to lifelong learning and throughout his career has gained extensive experience in manual therapy including training at the Ola Grimsby Institute, IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) and Myofascial Release education through Thomas Myers Anatomy Trains. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2011. Raj is a certified Neurac Therapist, Pilates instructor, an avid student of Hot Yoga and was recently named Student of the Month at his studio.
Raj is passionate about working with the elderly and has created a unique Fall Prevention Program to improve patient’s balance and coordination as they age. He utilizes a wide variety of equipment to address balance deficits including Pneumex Unweighing System, Biodex and Balance Gym.
Certified in performing Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) and Work Site Analyses, Raj has pioneered the development of performance enhancement programs for DuPont. He has worked directly with the Resin, Dispersion, Fire Brigade and Emergency Services departments.
In his free time, Raj enjoys spending time with his wife, son and two daughters.
Sam is our new physical therapist at our Hall Road location. Sam graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She decided to become a physical therapist when she fractured her spine at 14 years old while tubing at Aunt’s lake. Her recovery introduced her to the field of PT. Sam is the oldest of four kids in her family and will soon be getting married. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, hanging out with family and friends, playing with her puppy, and working out.
Allison is a new physical therapist at Empower Physical Therapy & Fitness. She has a nephew named Cooper, who is almost 2 years old. She is a Detroit Red Wing fan and one of her favorite activities to do when she is not working is reading. Her favorite book is the Count of Monte Cristo.
Stephen studied kinesiology at Michigan State University for his undergrad. From there, he went on to receive his doctorate in physical therapy from Oakland University. Before coming to Empower he worked as a traveling physical therapist on the west coast in Oregon and California. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, exercising, riding his bike, and eating Jet's pizza.
Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in 1987. She is experienced in numerous treatment settings including in-patient rehabilitation, out-patient orthopedics, industrial rehabilitation and home health care. Wearing several hats along the way including staff therapist, quality assurance specialist and department clinical supervisor, Lisa has a firm hold on clinical aspects of treatment and customer care.
Being a firm believer in continuing education, Lisa has attended numerous continuing education courses in the areas of orthopedics, neurology, industrial rehabilitation and ergonomics. Lisa is a Level 1 Functional Evaluator with Fit2Work and most recently completed Neurac 1 training to provide Redcord treatment.
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and two (young adult) daughters. Her favorite pastimes include travel, attending sporting events, reading, cooking, water sports, and spending time with family and friends.
Ramesh has his Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from Madras University and his Master’s in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis. He has 25 years of experience as a Physical Therapist, with knowledge in treating orthopedic conditions and sports/ athletic injuries, myofascial neurological, geriatric and vestibular dysfunction. Ramesh also brings a strong knowledge in implementing and administering physical therapy programs in outpatient clinics and community programs. When Ramesh is not working, he enjoys photography and spending time with his family.
Physical Therapist Assistant
Lindsey grew up in Wixom, MI. In December of 2013 she graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. In June of 2016 she graduated from South University with her Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences in Physical Therapy Assisting. Lindsey began playing soccer at a young age and continued to go on and play in college. When Lindsey isn’t working she enjoys spending time with family and friends on the boat
Physical Therapist Assistant
Julie grew up in Sterling Heights, MI and is a graduate of Macomb Community College. She graduated in 1992 with her Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences in Physical Therapy Assisting. In 1999, she went on to receive her certification for Massage Therapy. Julie is a certified Neurac PTA. She also holds certifications in TRX and basic mat Pilates. She has also received training in kinesiology taping from ROCKTAPE and uses this method of taping to assist patients in their recovery. Julie likes spending time with her husband Dante, their twins Gianni and Cristiana, and their dog. She enjoys reading, planning parties, cooking and baking.
